ORIGIN
Blue-crowned Conures are ca native to South America. It extends from eastern Columbia to northern Argentina.
DESCRIPTION
At birth, the Blue-crowned Conure has a reddish head which changes to blue at maturity. They are 14 – 56 inches and can live for up to 30 years under proper care. They have reddish tips on their tail feathers, pink legs and feet, a horn-colored beak, and white rings around their eyes. Unfortunately, telling the difference between males and females is very difficult since they are identical in color and pattern. Therefore, it is only preferable to use a generic test.
TEMPERAMENT
Blue-crowned conures have a playful reputation. They carry so much energy they are very affectionate and social birds. They do not just bond with their owners, but anyone that gives them attention and care. An adorable trait about this species that qualifies them as pet birds is the fact that they rarely bite. If upset or excited, they will only worsen the situation. Sadly no training can turn this noisy bird into a quiet one. However, they are not the noisiest of the conure species.
THEIR CAGE
Their cages are A worth noting item on the list. A spacious square or rectangular cage appropriate is most preferable. Advisably, do a thorough checking of the security mechanism of the cage before purchase. Their Cage size should be approximate; 24″ W x 24″ H x 24″ D and Bar spacing of 5/8″ to 3/4″. The cage should be a strong one (wrought iron, stainless steel) so it can withstand the conure’s tough beak. Horizontal bar wires will allow the conure to exercise by climbing on the sides of the cage.
DIETARY PLAN
A Blue-crowned Conure should be provided with a proper diet to keep it happy and content. Their regular diet includes nuts, veggies, small-sized pasta, fruits, cooked chicken or turkey, pellets, and other bits and pieces of food. Many would prefer boiled vegetables to fresh ones. Accompanied by plenty of freshwaters.
